Tomorrow I have an appointment with a brand new general practitioner to discuss the various vaccines and medications that I will need to take while I am in Bolivia. I have been reading so much about the country but part of me can’t believe that I’m really doing this in 116 days. I am looking forward to having to go back to the basics when it comes to teaching. It will be so good for me to have some distance from teaching with technology. I love using technology in the classroom but sometimes it is nice to go back to the basics. It is so funny but students seem to respond better to basic strategies sometimes over having to use technology. You would think that the teenagers today would enjoy incorporating technology into the classroom but the truth is that most of them don’t embrace it. I try to use diverse strategies with all my students so that I can appeal to the various learning styles that they possess.
Sometimes I wonder if this Bolivia thing is just a dream that I will wake up from at some point. Going to Bolivia for six weeks this summer is so far out of my comfort zone. I am extremely proud of myself taking this risk. I am so lucky that my family is so supportive of my decision.
